In the fall of 2006, two respected barbershoppers, Walter Anderson and Professor Frank Repper, met several times with a vision of forming a barbershop chorus in Oldham County. The basic intent was to structure a male chorus that sang well, sang primarily barbershop style songs, had the flexibility to embrace other styles, had fun, and enjoyed being together.
After a short media blitz to encourage interest, a group of 8 men gathered on a Tuesday night in May of 2007 at the Oldham County Arts Center, to kick off the organization, to learn and embrace the art of barbershop music.
In September of 2009, the A Cappella Fellas became a Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We have had a wide variety of performance opportunities, among them are: Rotary Club, weddings, memorial services, Steam Boat Museum, Oldham County Fair beauty pageant, performing the National Anthem for a University of Kentucky basketball game, numerous churches and retirement facilities, South Oldham Lions Club, and this, our seventh Christmas concert.
In May of 2018 we began our 12th year of operation, and hired its newest Director, Pam Ringo.
